New Peer-Led Beds Enhance Mental Health Crisis Response
New peer-led acute alternative beds will provide faster access to mental health support in Auckland and the lower South Island. Mental Health Minister Matt Doocey announced the expansion to improve crisis response services.
These services aim to prevent long waits for inpatient beds, offering a home-like setting where people can focus on their recovery. With this initiative, the Government is increasing the number of peer-led acute alternative beds from 25 to 45, as part of a wider $61.6 million investment in mental health.
