Te Rito System Used by Less Than a Quarter of Schools
The Education Ministry has revealed that its cloud-based student information system, Te Rito, is only being used by 551 schools. An additional 503 schools are registered but not yet connected to the system.
Te Rito, a $34 million initiative, aims to facilitate sharing student information among schools. Despite the initial investment, less than 25% of schools have adopted the system. The ministry is actively working to support the remaining schools in the transition to enhance student information sharing.
The delay in connection for the waiting schools indicates a need for further resources or training. Education authorities hope that as more schools come online, the benefits of the system will become apparent, improving communication and collaboration in education across Aotearoa.
