Investment for India-NZ Sport Unity Programme Announced
The Government is investing from the Events Boost Fund to support the India-New Zealand 100 Years of Unity through Sport programme. This initiative celebrates a century of sporting connections between the two nations.
Sport and Recreation Minister, Mark Mitchell, highlighted the significance of this milestone, noting how sport can unite nations and foster friendships. The programme will feature a series of major sporting events in New Zealand in 2026, including participation from the Indian Men’s Football team and Individual and Mixed Pairs Bowls teams. NZ Cricket has already announced its match schedule as the first confirmed event of this broader initiative. Celebrations will culminate in a month of sporting activities across New Zealand in November, with various Indian national sports teams expected to tour during that time.
