Transport Minister Welcomes Major Transport Projects Pipeline
Transport Minister Chris Bishop has welcomed the release of NZTA's Major Transport Projects Pipeline. The publication outlines the phasing for key projects including the Roads of National Significance and major public transport initiatives.
Mr Bishop highlighted the government's ambitious transport programme, designed to support economic growth by ensuring the safe and efficient movement of people and freight across New Zealand. Significant advancements have been made in the last three years with various projects underway.
Currently, projects such as the Ōtaki to north of Levin Road of National Significance, the Hawke's Bay Expressway, Takitimu North Link Stage 1 and SH29 Tauriko West (Omanawa Bridge) are under construction.
The Northland Expressway is nearing the end of its procurement phase, with construction set to begin before the year ends. Additionally, procurement is progressing for the Cambridge to Piarere Road of National Significance.
