Teen Develops Hurricane Preparedness Program for Students

A South Florida teenager has created a mini curriculum on hurricane preparedness. Elise Raurell, 16, developed the 'Storm Smart' program to help educate students on how to prepare for storms.

After experiencing Hurricane Irma, Raurell saw a need for better preparedness education in schools. In 2015, she launched the program as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award.
