New Free Food Safety Course to Support Businesses
The Government is introducing a free online food safety course aimed at reducing costs for food businesses. Minister for Food Safety Andrew Hoggard announced the initiative to support thousands of businesses.
Training costs for food safety can range from $50 to $200 per staff member. By providing free resources, the government is helping to put money back in the till for food operators. The training is an essential measure for consumer protection and helps to prevent foodborne illness.
The second module, launched recently, focuses on personal hygiene and its importance for food handlers. It teaches everyday habits that help protect customers from foodborne illnesses.
This online series, developed with input from industry stakeholders, began with the first module released in May. A total of six modules will be completed and published online by early next year, covering a range of topics essential for maintaining food safety.
