Bay of Plenty Rūnanga Aims for Forestry Bio-hub to Create Jobs
Ngāti Manawa is proposing a forestry bio-hub for Kaingaroa and Murupara, aiming to revitalise the local economy. This initiative is seen as a key opportunity to combat economic decline in the region.
The rūnanga believes the bio-hub could serve as a catalyst for sustainable job creation. "Kaingaroa and Murupara have been in economic decline... we think this is the opportunity that can change that," said a representative from Ngāti Manawa.
The project is anticipated to enhance local employment, focusing on the sustainable use of forestry resources. It aims to drive innovation and growth within the industry while also benefiting the community.
Local residents and stakeholders are encouraged about the potential positive impact of the bio-hub. If successful, this initiative could be a turning point for the struggling regions of Kaingaroa and Murupara, fostering new economic opportunities.
