Matahui School Hosts Fundraiser for Breast Cancer Support
A heartfelt initiative at Matahui School has brought the community together for a fundraiser benefiting the Breast Cancer Support Services Tauranga Trust. The event was inspired by Year 4 student Gaige Aitchison-Budd, who is cutting his long hair to support those experiencing hair loss.
This fundraiser is especially poignant as Gaige's family has been touched by breast cancer, with his mother diagnosed a year after he decided to grow his hair. The school community organized a pink-themed mufti day, bake sale, and a Givealittle page to support the cause. Principal Mary Woods emphasized the values of empathy and courage, making this event a significant learning experience for all students.
