Poripori Road to close eight weeks for slip repairs from May

Drivers travelling on Poripori Road near Katikati should plan ahead, with the road set to close for around eight weeks from 11 May to 3 July 2026 while crews repair a roadside slip threatening the stability of the route. The closure will affect the section between Kumikumi Road and Tebbutt Road.

Residents will still be able to reach their properties from either end of the closure, but there will be no through access past the slip site, which is located approximately 600 metres south of Tebbutt Road. Motorists are being asked to use SH29 and SH2 as a detour during this period. A second slip repair is also planned on Poripori Road, 600 metres from the SH29 intersection, where stop/go traffic management will be in place. The timeline is weather dependent.
