Three new constables join Katikati Police Station

Sergeant Steve Hindmarsh has announced that three new officers have begun duties at the Katikati Police Station, bolstering the team's capacity across a large district. Constable Xandri Ambrose has transferred from Rotorua, Ryan Foord has come across from Matamata, and Andrew Gillingwater has joined from Paeroa.

The Katikati station covers a significant area stretching from Bridgeman Lane at Athenree all the way to the Wairoa Bridge on the outskirts of Tauranga, taking in Ōmokoroa, Te Puna and Whakamārama. Hindmarsh said the additional staff would allow the station to operate with two-person crews more consistently and enable stepped-up patrols throughout the district.

The police report for the period also detailed several incidents in the area, including the theft of a dinghy from Esplanade Reserve Road at Whakamārama, a ride-on mower stolen from a trailer on State Highway 2, and a number of arrests for offences including causing sustained loss of traction and breach of bail conditions.
