Katikati kids' hunting and fishing competition returns in March
Early bird entries are now open for the second annual Katikati Kids Hunting and Fishing Competition, set to run over the weekend of 27–29 March. The inaugural event last year was organised in just three weeks yet still attracted 153 youngsters and $10,000 worth of prize money, and organisers are hoping to draw even more local whānau this time around.
Aongatete residents Scott and Sarah Adamson are again leading the event alongside a committee of parents. One notable change this year is that the age eligibility has been lifted to include competitors up to 15 years old. Entry fees remain at $15 per child, and competition categories will be announced in coming weeks.
A new early bird incentive has also been added — a paddleboard up for grabs for those who register before the early bird deadline of 14 March. Families can still enter right up until 27 March, with the paddleboard prize to be awarded at the prizegiving.
