Flood Recovery Continues Across Western Bay of Plenty

In the aftermath of significant flooding on January 21-22, Western Bay of Plenty has seen a strong community response. Local businesses and residents are coming together to assist those affected.

Many properties were impacted, with red and yellow placards issued to indicate safety risks. Amidst the challenges, community spirit shines as volunteers help with clean-up efforts across affected areas, including Katikati and Ōmokoroa.

Businesses like Surf Shack Eatery reported severe losses, but owners expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from the community. Western Bay of Plenty District Mayor James Denyer emphasized the importance of this solidarity in rebuilding efforts.
