Community Asked to Have Say on New Waihī Beach Medical Centre

Primary Health Care Limited (PHCL) has approached Western Bay of Plenty District Council seeking a lease over part of the Beach Road Recreation Reserve at Waihī Beach, with plans to build a new medical centre to serve the area's growing population. PHCL, a charitable organisation, currently operates the Waihī Beach Medical Centre on Wilson Road.

Council has agreed in principle to explore the proposal, which would require the reserve to be reclassified. Before any decision is made, the community is being invited to share their views on the plan.

Feedback can be provided online at yourplace.westernbay.govt.nz/proposed-new-waihi-beach-medical-centre, or via hard-copy forms available at Te Ara Mātauranga — the Waihī Beach Library and Community Hub. The consultation period closes at 11:59pm on Sunday 8 February 2026.
