Te Puke Library Launches Summer Reading Programmes for Children

Te Puke Library is launching its Summer Reading Programmes aimed at two age groups this season. Teen readers can participate in a creative Book Bingo Challenge, while primary school-aged children are invited to join Raumati Rauemi-Te Taiao, an activity-based programme focused on nature.

According to Te Puke Library and Service Centre team leader Amanda-Jane McFadden, the primary school programme aims to combat summer reading slumps that can affect children's literacy levels before they return to school. Children earn prize draw entries for every 60 minutes of reading, and completing missions secures invitations to an end-of-summer finale party. The programmes include a scavenger hunt, colouring competition, and craft session, all with a nature theme. Registration opened December 8, with online and in-person options available.
