Bupa Te Puke Retirement Village Marks Redevelopment Milestone
Bupa Te Puke Retirement Village and Care Home held a special blessing last week to mark the closure of its original rest-home facility, known locally as the Old Motel, and celebrate a major milestone in the $17 million site redevelopment. General Manager Tracey Alderton acknowledged the emotional significance of closing the facility that had served the community, while emphasizing the need for modern care infrastructure.
The redevelopment project includes a full rebuild of the hospital-level care facility with 36 new premium care rooms, 11 new villas on the former motel site, and upgraded village common areas. Some rooms are designed as flexible "swing rooms" that can accommodate either rest-home or hospital-level care. Bupa New Zealand Managing Director Pedro Sanchez attended the blessing. The project reflects Bupa's commitment to providing residents with modern, comfortable care meeting high standards.
