Bowentown Holiday Park seeks consent to open café for public

Western Bay of Plenty District Council is inviting public feedback on a proposal to allow Bowentown Holidays Limited to add a café to its existing holiday park operation. The variation to the current lease would permit the café to serve both holiday park guests and members of the general public, operating within the park's existing leased premises.

Under the Reserves Act 1977, any change to how council-owned reserve land is used requires public notification. The proposed café would fall under a provision allowing businesses that help the public enjoy and benefit from a reserve, or that serve the convenience of people using it.

Residents can have their say online at the Western Bay council's YourPlace engagement platform, by email to haveyoursay@westernbay.govt.nz, or in person at Te Ara Mātauranga – Waihī Beach Library and Community Hub. All submissions must be received by midnight on Sunday, 8 February 2026.
