Plans Revealed for Kauri Point Historic Reserve

A draft cultural concept plan for Kauri Point Historic Reserve has been announced. This plan aims to preserve its heritage, environment, and recreational value.

Developed collaboratively by the Western Bay of Plenty District Council and Te Kō Rōpu hapū, the plan highlights the importance of kaitiakitanga—guardianship and care for the land. Community feedback is invited to shape its future development, with the aim of ensuring respectful access to this culturally significant site.

Residents can view the full concept plan and provide feedback until December 7. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to protect the unique historical and ecological attributes of Kauri Point.
