Te Puna Quarry Park Dog Walk Kicks Off WBOP's Summer Wander Walk Series
Dog owners across the Western Bay of Plenty are invited to lace up their boots and bring their furry friends along to the first Wander Walk of the season, which will be held at Te Puna Quarry Park this Saturday, 8 November. The free guided walk is the first of five being held across the rohe throughout summer.
Participants are asked to meet at the car park at 9.30am for a 10am start, looping around the park with a scenic view stop along the way. Every dog will go home with a bag of treats, and owners are encouraged to snap photos during the walk and enter the online Wander Walk Photo Competition, which is being run through the Western Bay Animal Services Facebook page.
WBOPDC team leader animal services Peter Hrstich said the Te Puna Quarry Park dog walk is a firm favourite that draws a large turnout each year. "It's a great way for dogs to socialise and for dog lovers to meet like-minded people for some fun and fresh air," he said.
With spring flowers in bloom and warmer weather on the way, Hrstich encouraged participants to wear sturdy shoes as the route includes some hill walking. Updates can be found on the Western Bay Council Facebook events page.
