Grief Support Services Hosts Free Remembrance Picnic at Te Puna Quarry Park

The community is invited to Grief Support Services' annual Remembrance Picnic, taking place from midday to 3pm on Sunday 16 November at Te Puna Quarry Park. The free event provides a safe and welcoming space for people to remember loved ones lost to suicide, particularly in the lead-up to the holiday season.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic and something meaningful that reminds them of the person they have lost. A range of activities will be on offer, including a dedicated memorial area, arts and crafts, water balloons, face painting, self-care goodie bags, and a free sausage sizzle.

"This picnic is about hope, connection, and gentle healing," said Grief Support Services general manager Deanna Wharton. Donations are welcomed on the day to support the organisation's counselling and suicide-bereavement services.
