WBOPC WanderWalks Summer Series Returns for Dogs and Owners
Western Bay of Plenty District Council is bringing back its popular WanderWalks Summer Series for 2025–2026, offering five free guided dog walks at scenic locations across the district. The series kicks off at Te Puna Quarry Park on 8 November and concludes with a Doggy Day Out celebration at Ōmokoroa Sportsground on 28 March.
Council team leader for animal services Peter Hrstich said the events give dog owners a relaxed and friendly setting to socialise, meet fellow dog lovers, and enjoy the outdoors with their pets. "Our WanderWalks are a great way for your dog to socialise, build confidence, burn off energy and learn good manners, while you get to enjoy connecting with other dog owners," he said.
The full schedule of walks includes McLoughlin Park in Te Puke on 22 November, Puketoki Reserve at Whakamārama on 13 December, Waitekohekohe Reserve at Katikati on 24 January, and Anzac Bay at Waihī Beach on 14 February. Participants are also encouraged to photograph their dogs enjoying the walks and enter the images in a competition run via the Western Bay Animal Services Facebook page.
