Katikati Residents Revive Local Basketball Club

A group of residents in Katikati is bringing basketball back to the community. With sessions for adults and youth, they're aiming to revive the local basketball club that faded out a decade ago.

Maddy Kilford and Sheanna Chadwick now run sessions at Katikati College Action Centre. Adults can join scrimmages on Wednesdays, while Thursdays are dedicated to girls in Years 6-12. On Fridays, a boys' 3X3 competition is held for Years 5-13.

Kilford said they hope to gauge interest this term and possibly form teams next year, encouraging all skill levels to participate. The initiative aims to make basketball more accessible to locals without the travel burden of joining clubs in nearby cities.
