New Mural Celebrates Community History in Katikati

A new mural has transformed a roadside substation in Katikati into a striking community asset. The artwork, which incorporates local history and natural imagery, was unveiled during a dawn blessing ceremony.

Developed in partnership with local iwi and artists, this mural is a celebration of the stories of Tuapiro Marae and its people. It not only enhances the area visually but also serves as a cultural touchstone for the community.

This project is part of Powerco’s art on assets initiative, aimed at reducing graffiti while beautifying public spaces.
