Katikati Concert Band to Perform End-of-Year Show on 25 October

The Katikati Concert Band is inviting the wider Western Bay of Plenty community to its end-of-year concert on Saturday, 25 October, at St Paul's Presbyterian Church on Mulgan Street. Doors open at 3.30pm with the performance beginning at 4pm.

Band president Karen Goh said the group has more than 15 members ranging in age from 14 to around 70, playing woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. Under the baton of conductor Hiro Kobayashi, the band will perform classical works by Bach, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Holst and Gershwin, alongside modern favourites from Les Misérables, Deep Purple and Queen. The programme also includes the traditional Māori lullaby 'Hine e Hine', which many will remember from the beloved Goodnight Kiwi sign-off on TVNZ during the 1980s and 90s.

Raffles will be drawn at the close of the concert to help fund the band's ongoing rehearsal and performance costs. Tickets are $10 at the door or from The Arts Junction, with children under 12 entering free. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.theartsjunction.org.nz.
