Volunteers needed for Pink Ribbon Street Appeal in Bay of Plenty
Breast Cancer Foundation NZ is calling on people across the Bay of Plenty to give up a couple of hours and volunteer for the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal, taking place on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 October. The appeal is the foundation's longest-running fundraiser and depends entirely on community volunteers to collect donations.
Chief executive Ah-Leen Rayner said local support is vital, noting the foundation receives no government funding and relies on the generosity of volunteers to keep its work going. Around 205 women are diagnosed with breast cancer across the Bay of Plenty each year. Funds raised go towards ground-breaking research, education campaigns, and patient support services.
"Giving up just two hours of your time is a small act that has a massive impact," Rayner said. Those keen to help can register at pinkribbonvolunteer.org.nz — registrations close at midday on 16 October.
