Te Puke Fire Brigade shines at Auckland Provincial Challenge
A dedicated team from the Te Puke Volunteer Fire Brigade recently competed at the Auckland Provincial Fire Brigades Association Firefighter Challenge in Rotorua, representing the community with impressive results. The team, consisting of Grant Scothern, Dan Turner, Levi Purdie, Cooper Purdie, and Jodi Purdie, secured second place in the male relay, third in the co-ed relay, and seventh in the tandem co-ed category.
Individual highlights included Cooper Purdie placing second in the open male category and sixth in the male individual competition, while Dan Turner achieved fifth place in the male under-40 category. According to Chief Fire Officer Dale Lindsay, the team did the brigade proud with their hard work and dedication.
As of Monday, September 29, the Te Puke Fire Brigade has responded to 244 calls for the calendar year to date, with eight calls during the past fortnight including one false alarm, three medicals, two smoke investigations, and two vegetation fires. The brigade encourages the community to follow their Facebook page for updates.
