Taylor Swift album release party comes to Te Puke

Te Puke is gearing up for a unique celebration as the small community prepares to host a listening party for Taylor Swift's new album 'The Eras Tour' today at the Capitol Theatre in Jellicoe Street. The event, organised by Sabrina Harms on behalf of the Kiwifruit Capital of the World Heritage Centre, will transform the historic 1929-built art deco theatre into a festive venue for the occasion.

The party begins at 3:30pm with doors opening for guests to enjoy the album's premiere through the cinema's surround sound system via Spotify. A "showgirl" performer has been hired for the event, and FiFi Oh! from The Wildest Untamed will be available for photos and a question-and-answer session exploring the life of a performer. The evening will feature a New Year's Eve-style countdown before the album plays, with attendees encouraged to dress up in costume and swap friendship bracelets.

Harms, who draws personal significance from Swift's music following a difficult breakup two years ago, expressed enthusiasm about opening the Capitol Theatre's doors as an inclusive community space. Tickets for the listening party are $30 and available now.
