Katikati Settlers' Dance Recreates 1875 Charm
Over 200 attendees donned period costumes at Katikati's Settlers' Dance, bringing the spirit of 1875 back to life. The evening was filled with lively music and dance, celebrating the town's rich heritage.
Hosted by the Katikati 150th Anniversary Committee, the event featured a performance by local music group led by Brett Lowe, who played tunes spanning from the era of the Ulster Irish settlers through to the 1950s.
Participants enjoyed traditional Irish dancing, a humorous skit from Katikati Theatre, and awards for the best-dressed attendees. Organisers hinted at the possibility of hosting similar events in the future, highlighting the community's enthusiasm.
