Katikati Celebrates 150 Years with Vintage Car Parade

Katikati experienced a nostalgia-filled morning with a parade of over 50 vintage and classic vehicles. The event marked 150 years since the arrival of the Ulster Irish settlers in 1875, delighting locals and visitors alike.

The parade featured an array of vehicles, including a standout 1921 Ford Model T flat deck truck owned by Russell Williams from Te Puna. Despite windy conditions, the highlight showcased the rich history of Katikati and its automotive heritage, as families gathered to admire the beautifully maintained cars.

In addition to the parade, various activities included exhibitions at the Western Bay Museum and a talk on Katikati's early rugby history. The community came together, celebrating the town's heritage in style.
