Katikati Celebrates 150 Years of Ulster Irish Heritage

Katikati is gearing up for a massive celebration this weekend, marking 150 years since the Ulster Irish settlers first arrived in 1875. With a parade, live performances, and storytelling events, the town brings its rich history to life.

The festivities kick off with a vehicle parade at 10 am on Saturday, featuring classic cars and community participation. Doug Brown, a resident and local veteran car enthusiast, will lead the parade in his 1930 Ford AA pick-up truck. After the parade, residents and visitors can enjoy entertainment at the Town Square throughout the day.

Irish folk singer Colin Urwin will also perform at various events, sharing historical stories and music that reflect the town's heritage. The weekend promises a delightful mix of history and community spirit, inviting everyone to take part in the celebrations.
