Katikati Police Report: Dishonesty Offending on the Rise
Katikati's local police sergeant Steve Hindmarsh has flagged a concerning spike in dishonesty-related offending across the district, describing it as a particularly bad week for such incidents. He urged residents to ring 111 if they spot anything suspicious so officers can follow up.
Among the reported offences, a green 2010 Toyota Highlander was stolen overnight from an orchard on Connelly Lane, Tahawai, on 18 August. Number plates were also taken from a vehicle parked in Jocelyn Street around 15 August.
Hindmarsh noted it had been some time since avocado theft had been reported locally, but with prices rising, thieves have apparently taken notice. The public is encouraged to stay alert and report anything out of the ordinary without delay.
