Mural Town Line Dancers Host Hugely Popular Social Event in Katikati

Katikati's War Memorial Hall was alive with energy on Sunday 24 August when the Mural Town Line Dancers hosted a large social event that drew boot-scootin' enthusiasts from across the North Island. Organised by Lurline Plummer and her team, the afternoon of non-stop dancing ran from 11am to 4pm and attracted 116 dancers.

Groups travelled from as far afield as Hamilton, Cambridge, Matamata, Te Awamutu, Papakura, Papatoetoe, Ōmokoroa, Tauranga, Waihi, Welcome Bay, Taupō, Rotorua, Whangamatā, Whakatāne, and Te Aroha. Club member Jo Hurne said the sight of so many different clubs coming together was a testament to the strong community spirit within the line dancing world. "The atmosphere was electric, filled with toe-tapping music and a vibrant energy that kept everyone on the dance floor," she said.

Plummer and her organising team received widespread praise for putting on a well-run and enjoyable day. The event also served as a fundraiser, with proceeds set to provide a cheque of more than $500 each to St Peter's Church and St John's Ambulance.
