Katikati Pool Upgrade to Enhance Community Access

The Dave Hume Swimming Pool complex in Katikati is set for significant upgrades. These enhancements aim to create a more accessible and inclusive environment for residents.

The plan includes reconfiguring the main pool to add a new 7m learn-to-swim pool, enhancing accessibility with a hoist for individuals with disabilities. Community fundraising efforts and contributions from the Western Bay of Plenty Council will support the upgrades, which are aimed at making the pool facility a year-round destination for all ages.

Pool manager Daniel Wilks expressed excitement about the improvements, emphasizing that the trust aims to create a well-rounded facility catering to diverse community needs. Residents can look forward to an open day before Christmas as renovations wrap up in mid-December.
