Te Puke Waka Ama Paddler Represents New Zealand at World Championships in Brazil

Te Puke waka ama paddler Nicky Kingi will be representing New Zealand at the International Va'a Federation (IVF) World Distance Championships in Brazil next week. Kingi has competed at every IVF World Distance Championships since they began and is preparing for the challenges of competing in a tropical climate.

"It does restrict you a little, but we've competed in conditions like this before," said Kingi, noting that the hot weather and requirement to wear life jackets will make conditions more challenging than racing in New Zealand where life jackets are optional.
