Te Puke's New Community Constable Gets to Know the Town on Foot
Aron Wilson-McGrath has taken on the role of Te Puke's newest community constable and is introducing himself to locals by walking the streets and getting to know the town he's entrusted to protect. Wilson-McGrath has spent the majority of his career on the front line in Tauranga but felt he had the aptitude and social skills to work well in a community-based role.
"I think it makes a difference being someone who people know on a first-name basis, someone who's introduced themselves to you with a handshake and with a greeting as opposed to just a phone call," he said. Wilson-McGrath has been in the role for two months and believes there is no better way to get to know the town and its people than by walking the beat and listening to residents' voices and opinions to find realistic solutions.
