Dave Hume Pool Eyes Major Upgrade After 51 Years Serving Katikati

The Dave Hume Swimming Pool complex has been a cornerstone of the Katikati community for more than half a century, catering to everyone from babies in learn-to-swim classes through to elderly residents attending mobility sessions and people recovering from injury. Complex manager Daniel Wilks, who also sits on the Dave Hume Swimming Pool Trust, says the facility has touched the lives of people of all ages, backgrounds, and physical abilities.

The trust's long-held vision is to preserve and grow what the pool offers, and that ambition is now coming to fruition. A planned upgrade would improve accessibility for all users, extend the swimming season, and add an outdoor gym alongside enhanced facilities.

Wilks describes the goal as creating a truly all-encompassing facility for the wider community and district. He says the trust is looking forward to welcoming both existing and new customers for what promises to be a standout summer ahead.
