Maketū Rotary Club Leaves Lasting Legacy After 20 Years

The Maketū Rotary Club, chartered in 2005, has folded this year after less than 20 years of operation, but its impact on the community remains visible throughout Maketū. David and Sue Campbell were heavily involved in the club's formation after moving to New Zealand from the United States, where they had been active in Rotary.

Among the club's notable projects was restoring the Maketū Surf Club back into operation and a major refurbishment of the Maketū Community Centre beginning in September 2021. Despite the challenges faced, including projects that had to be cancelled due to the pandemic, the Maketū Rotary Club demonstrated exceptional dedication to tackling big projects and making them happen for the benefit of their community.
