Council Urges Public Help on Illegal Dumping

The Western Bay of Plenty District Council is calling for public assistance in their investigation into illegal waste dumping at Thompson’s Track near Katikati. The council hopes to uncover the origins of large quantities of concrete and household items discarded in the area.

Recent illegal dumping incidents have raised concerns, with thousands of dollars required for cleanup efforts. Council spokeswoman Katie McHugh highlighted the need for community vigilance, urging anyone with information to come forward. The council is also taking steps to deter future dumping by restricting vehicle access to the area.
