Builders renovating The Arts Junction in Katikati stumbled upon a time capsule from 1987, offering a glimpse into the town's past. This hidden treasure contained historical documents and plans related to the local library.

The capsule, marked for discovery in 2087, included architectural plans, a 1987 council directory, and local newspaper clippings. It was originally placed by young apprentice Dene Skelton, now reflecting the exciting changes in Katikati during a time of growth.
