Michael Jones Returns to Direct 'Call Girls' Comedy at Little Park Theatre
Michael Jones, Te Puke's former town crier and theatre stalwart, is returning to the director's chair this July for his 11th major production. The riotous comedy 'Call Girls', written by NZ playwright James Carrick, is set in a small retirement home under threat from a developer and burgeoning bureaucracy. Despite 65 years of theatre experience, involvement in the kiwifruit industry, and a colourful history in local politics, Jones remains characteristically low-key about his achievements.
The production runs July 15-26 at Little Park Theatre, with tickets selling fast. The story features the women residents using their wit and cunning to fight back against the threats to their home, described as "a brilliant, uplifting story" that promises a night of classic Te Puke entertainment.
