Te Puke Heritage Plaza Refurbishment Begins

Te Puke's Heritage Plaza is finally getting a refresh after nearly a decade. The open area on Jellicoe Street, in front of My Pharmacy and Te Puke Jewellers, was created as part of the town beautification project in late 2016 and early 2017. The plaza has been controversial almost from the beginning, partly due to the loss of on-street parking spaces and criticism that it is not an attractive space, resulting in minimal use beyond serving as a pedestrian crossing.

Work on the refurbishment is due to begin next week, with the $200,000 upgrade aimed at revitalizing the town centre and creating a more welcoming, green space for the community.
