Creative Writing Workshops Come to Western Bay of Plenty in July

Bookrapt, the Bay of Plenty Children's Literature Association, is hosting a morning of inspiring writing and illustration workshops at Paengaroa School on July 9. The event features a stellar lineup of award-winning authors and illustrators, including Rachel Weston (author of 'Bumblebees Have Smelly Feet'), Tom Fitzgibbon Award winner Carol Garden, and ONZM recipient Lee Murray. Sessions are tailored for children as young as four through to teens and adults.

Workshops include Collaborative Storytelling for ages 4-6, Playing with Words for 5-7 year-olds, fact-finding sessions for 7-10 year-olds, and poetry and personal narrative sessions for ages 15-plus. Local artist Debbie Tipuna will lead illustration workshops, while historian Debbie McCauley will conduct a session exploring local history and Te Tiriti significance. Each event costs $5 per person with sponsored spots available. Spaces are limited and expected to fill quickly. For bookings, email bookraptnz@gmail.com or call 02102488981.
