Katikati Students Install Nesting Box for Ruru
A group of Katikati Primary School students celebrated a meaningful day as they watched a ruru nesting box being installed in their school’s Te Awaawa gully. This initiative is part of a larger community effort to support local wildlife.
Over 40 students participated in the installation, contributing to the Renaturing Katikati project, which aims to enhance the local ecosystem. As guardians, the Year 5-6 students are learning about environmental protection and the importance of native species. This programme not only enriches their education but also empowers them to take part in local conservation efforts.
