Fluoride to be Added to Drinking Water in Athenree and Wharawhara
Western Bay of Plenty District Council is set to fluoridate water supplies at Athenree and Wharawhara. This decision follows a directive from the Director-General of Health to enhance public dental health.
Fluoridation will begin in June for the Athenree Water Treatment Plant and in July for Wharawhara. This initiative aims to improve dental health within the community and is being implemented in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines.
Residents can expect no disruption during the process. Council officials will ensure that fluoride levels remain within safe recommended limits, maintaining the quality of drinking water in the affected areas.
