Community Effort Turns Leftover Library Materials into Resources

The Waihī Beach library project is actively contributing to the community by recycling leftover materials for local initiatives. This effort allows residents to transform construction offcuts into practical resources.

Close to 170 square meters of materials have been repurposed by individuals and groups, enhancing gardens, schools, and local projects. Local resident Garry Kirkbride used the timber to improve a retaining wall, showcasing practical applications of recycled resources.

Such community-driven initiatives highlight the importance of sustainability and local collaboration, ensuring that new developments also serve the wider community effectively.
