Te Puke meals on wheels service revived as Aroha Meals

A Te Puke meals on wheels service that was cancelled last year has been revived under the name Aroha Meals. The original service, provided for around a decade by CHT Healthcare Trust's Glynavon Care Home, ended in November. After a gap in service, community support organisation Colab worked with the Daily Charitable Trust to launch the new programme about a month ago. The service offers five and seven-day-a-week options with hot meals dropped off each weekday, plus two frozen meals delivered on Fridays. The Daily initiated a survey last year showing how difficult food security is for some people, with feedback highlighting the need for cheaper protein, fruit and vegetables. The service aims to support food sovereignty and provide daily social connection for isolated community members.
