Katikati Bowling Club opens doors beyond the bowling season
Even though the official bowls season has wrapped up, Katikati Bowling Club is keen to let locals know there is plenty still happening at 8 Park Road. Club activities representative Kevin Whitworth says many people simply aren't aware of everything on offer — and the public is just as welcome as paid-up members.
Beyond bowling on natural and artificial greens (with free coaching available on request), the club runs Housie every second Tuesday evening, a quiz night every second Wednesday, Rummikub on Thursday afternoons, and Cards 500 on Friday afternoons. The quiz nights draw around 70 people and teams of six are welcomed — though solo visitors can turn up and be slotted into a group.
The club bar operates during Housie, quiz nights, and Friday evenings, when a happy hour runs from 4pm to 6.30pm. With more than 100 members — around 70 of them active bowlers — Whitworth says the club is a lively social hub year-round. Anyone keen to find out more can ring Kevin on 021 457 389.
