Abbeyfield fundraiser drives ahead for Katikati senior housing project

Construction is under way on a Katikati housing project that will provide 14 older residents with en-suite studio accommodation, cooked meals and companionship — and the committee behind it is actively seeking community support to help fund the build. The project is being delivered under the Abbeyfield model, a proven approach to supported community living for seniors.

The fundraising drive includes a citrus tree sale run by Grow On Katikati, with trees ranging from 75 cm to one metre tall available for purchase. Varieties on offer include lime, lemon, and a selection of mandarin, orange and grapefruit. The sale serves a dual purpose, raising funds while encouraging home food growing across the district.

Donations can be made through collection boxes at the town's Woolworths and Four Square stores. People can also arrange a bank transfer by contacting the committee directly at fundabbeyfieldwbop@gmail.com or by phoning 027 348 7748.
