Katikati Wrestler Suraj Singh Wins Gold in Singapore

Katikati's Suraj Singh has emerged victorious at the 2025 Southeast Asian & Invitation Wrestling Championship in Singapore, winning gold in the Under-61kg freestyle division. His achievement is a stepping stone towards his ultimate goal of representing New Zealand at the 2028 Olympics.

Singh, 26, trained intensively for the competition after receiving a last-minute invitation. He competed against athletes from Singapore, Malaysia, and Cambodia, showcasing his skill and determination. With dreams set on Los Angeles 2028, Singh's journey in wrestling continues with great promise.

"I love the sport and can’t stay away from it,” Singh said. After years of dedication, he aims to qualify through national championships and Oceania tournaments in the coming years.
