Maketu-Te Puke Community Expo Scheduled for May 21

A community expo is planned for the Maketu-Te Puke Ward on Wednesday, May 21, from 7pm to 9pm at Paengaroa Community Hall. The event will feature presentations from 7pm to 8pm where residents can learn about the new Te Puke-Eastern Community Board area and what it means for them heading into the year's local body elections.

Local groups including Paengaroa Community Association, Pukehina Ratepayers and Residents Association, Pongakawa School, and Ōtamarākau School will provide updates on their activities. From 8pm to 9pm, an interactive expo will allow attendees to kōrero (converse) with councillors and council staff about topics including local roading projects, Conway Road Reserve Playground, community grants, and emergency management, including a natural hazards simulation experience using VR goggles.
