Brittany Jenkins Named Northern Districts Young Female Player of the Year

Talented 18-year-old Te Puke cricketer Brittany Jenkins has been named Northern Districts Young Female Player of the Year. Jenkins was recognised at the awards evening at SkyCity in Hamilton on Friday, April 14, for being a consistent performer throughout the season representing Northern Districts A and Under 19 Women's teams. The pace bowler was the top wicket taker across the country for Women's A cricket with 17 wickets throughout summer.

A Welcome Bay resident who began playing cricket at age 10, Jenkins currently plays for Te Puke Cricket's senior reserves while studying towards a Bachelor of Sport and Health Science at Waikato University. She was invited to join the men's senior reserves team by one of the players after demonstrating her capabilities. Jenkins aspires to one day play for New Zealand, with her next goal being to make the Northern Brave women's team and eventually secure a place on the New Zealand national squad.
